I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where I lived until I was about 34 years old. I have always been interested in computers. In the early 1980's, I took an independent study class at my high school for computer programming. That was the only way to do it back then! After high school graduation, I attend college at the University of Georgia and then Clayton State University where I completed my BBA in Accounting. My goal was to become a CPA. After working for a CPA for a year, I decided to join my husband, Barry, full time, in our trucking business, Madd Maxx Express. Yes, that really was the name of our company! My husband and I have been self employeed every since. We grew our business to about 35 trucks and 50 employees. In the early 2000's, we decided to move to Blue Ridge, Georgia.

In 2005, I decided to return to school. I studied at North Georgia Technical College to learn Web Design. I loved doing Web Design. But, as time went on and technology advanced, I could not compete with the online website making programs. I was a full time substitute teacher for 11 years while my children were in school. I also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and trainer, a Boy Scout leader and trainer, and as a teacher with my church in ASAP and VBS. I really enjoy teaching! While a trainer in Girl Scouts, I discovered instructional design. I attended a conference at the University of Georgia and I realized it combines two of my favorite things; teaching and computers. I graduated from the University of Georgia in August of 2019 with a Master's of Education in Instructional Design & Development. Through my studies at UGA, I feel that I have become very prepared for a career in instructional design. The professors I worked with were knowledgable in their respected fields and help me to understand the importance of analysis and evaluation. Please visit my portfolio to see examples of projects I have completed since graduation. |
